Latest Blackberrys break into Bahrain

MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) and Research In Motion (RIM) have launched two new BlackBerry smartphones for business users in the Kingdom.

MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) and Research In Motion (RIM) have launched two new BlackBerry smartphones for business users in the Kingdom.

The BlackBerry Pearl is one of the smallest and lightest smartphones in the world, with fast EDGE-enabled technology, digital camera, multimedia capabilities and an expandable memory slot, while the BlackBerry 8707v features a full QWERTY keyboard, fast access to the internet and data applications on the move. The 8707v can also be used as a tethered modem to enable users to access the internet from their laptop computers.

Dr Ahmed Al Shatti, COO, MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain), said: "Mobile access to email and business information is becoming an essential business tool, and now both corporate and individual users can enjoy combined functionality of a full-featured BlackBerry smartphone with the added appeal of style and affordability."

The BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry 8707v will be available from MTC-Vodafone Experience shops and throughout the MTC-Vodafone corporate sales team.

Customers can also benefit from 24/7 technical support through Vodafone's Global Frame Agreement with RIM.

Used with applications and services from BlackBerry Alliance Members, the devices can access market data and order management systems.

BlackBerry has more than seven million users worldwide, including staff at banks including Deutsche Bank, Citigroup and American Express.

Studies have shown the smartphone increases user productivity by around one hour per day.
