First MELDA awards takes place in Dubai.
Lighting Design Partnership picked up two awards at the first Middle East Lighting Design Awards (MELDA), which took place on 21 May, at the Al Murooj Rotana Hotel in Dubai.
The lighting design company won two of the seven categories on the night, winning the best Hospitality and Leisure Lighting Design Award and best Middle East Lighting Project of the Year Award, for the Barr Al Jissah Resort, Oman.
Other winners included Traxon Techologies' Mirror 649XL Wash, for Innovative Product of the Year and Kevin Shaw Lighting Design, who won the best Public Building Lighting Award for the Kuwait Public Institute for Social Security.
Speaking on the night, compere, Steve Marney said: " The awards represents an opportunity for the region to recognise and celebrate the professional achievements and excellence of leading lighting designers in enhancing the region's built environment."
There was no award this year for the Retail Lighting category, as judges felt there needed to be a more representative submission to reflect the quality of retail light in the region.
The event was well organised and attended and will be a good foundation for future MELDA ceremonies.
