Leviev to bring diamonds to Burj

Jewellers will open new stores in Dubai skyscraper and on Palm Jumeirah island by end of this year.

Diamond jewellers Leviev has announced it will be opening two new flagship store in UAE this year.

Leviev, owned by Uzbek-born Israeli billionaire Lev Leviev, said one of the boutique stores will be located in a under the Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building. Construction of the store will start in the fourth quarter and be finished in time for when the mall opens, it said.

The other store will be in the lobby of the new Atlantis hotel resort on the Palm Jumeirah island of the coast of Dubai and will open in September, it said.

"It is the next step for the evolution of our brand as Dubai is another epicentre of what we are witnessing in the world today," Lev Leviev said in a statement.

"It is based on the demand for exceptional diamonds, true masterpieces of nature, by the highest achievers and connoisseurs who travel the planet."

Leviev controls some of the largest private mines in the world and is also the largest privately-held polisher and cutter of diamonds. It is chaired by Lev Leviev, ranked 210st among the world's richest people.

Leviev already has a concession in Levant Jewellers in the lobby of the Al-Qasr Hotel in the Madinat Jumeirah area in Dubai, which opened on March 18 this year.

Leviev is chairman of Africa Israel Investments, a holding company with interests in real estate, shopping malls, energy, fashion, telecoms and media.
