LG Electronics lifts lid on Middle East home networking strategy

LG Electronics is aiming to exploit the region's construction boom by launching LG HomNet, a digital home network solution.

LG Electronics is aiming to exploit the region's construction boom by launching LG HomNet, a digital home network solution.

HomNet integrates eight different solutions, including home tasking, home entertainment and community management with all apartments in a residential tower connected to each other through a single server.

CH Lee, president at LG Gulf, says a rising number of real estate developers now recognise the need for affordable smart home technology. "The LG HomNet is the latest addition to our portfolio, with cutting-edge technology breaking barriers in home networking solutions," he commented. "The singularly distinguishing feature of HomNet is that it is affordable, while maintaining the high innovation standards that LG is synonymous with," said Lee.

LG has already won contracts worth US$30m to outfit 1,200 homes in the UAE with tailored solutions. "The key to successful HomNet deployment is simplicity and convenience," added Lee. "The technology is designed to be completely transparent and gives home owners the ability to control lighting, audio-visual and security functions throughout the residence with the touch of a button on a LCD panel."
