Lifeguards lap up competition

UAE National Lifeguard Championships draws 13 teams.

More than 50 of the Emirates' top lifeguards headed to the pool this week to compete in the UAE National Lifeguard Championships held at Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort.

Thirteen teams - with four members per teams - from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah took part of a number of competitive events, including speed, endurance and performance in rescue and emergency scenarios.

In the end it was the team from the Madinat Jumeirah who won the team event, followed by teams from Le Royal Meridien and Wild Wadi in second and third respectively.

Madinat Jumeirah's Vitaly Gluzda won the individual competition.

Other teams to enter were from Le Meridien Al Aqah, Emirates Palace, Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, Dubai Municipality, Vocational Education Development Centre, Mercure Grand, Dreamland Water Park, Grand Hyatt, Bab Al Shams, Le Meridien Abu Dhabi and Oasis Beach.
