Dubai International Film Festival initiative DIFF365@VOX will screen the award-winning Egyptian drama ‘Withered Green’ by Mohammed Hammad at Vox Cinemas, Mall of the Emirates.

The poignant low-budget film stars Heba Ali and Asmaa Fawzi and tells the story of Iman, a traditional and conservative young woman, who has to take care of her younger sister Noha after the death of their parents.  It details the lives of young women repressed by the patriarchal elements of Egyptian society.

The film received an award for best director at the Dubai International Film Festival’s prestigious Muhr Awards in December.

Since its inception in 2004, the DIFF has served as an influential platform for Arab filmmakers and talent at an international level by spearheading the cinema movement in the region. The 14th edition of the festival will take place from December 6 - 13.
