Rolls-Royce to unveil one-off Ghost model at Dubai Motor Show

Spirit of Calligraphy model features words of brand founder in Arabian calligraphy

Rolls-Royce to unveil one-off Ghost model at Dubai Motor Show

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars will reveal a special, one-off commission - Spirit of Calligraphy Ghost - at this year’s Dubai  International Motor Show taking place at the Dubai Trade Centre from Tuesday.

The extended wheel base Ghost features the words of brand founder Sir Henry Royce in Arabian calligraphy. The quote, “Take the best that exists and make it better. When it does not exist, design it” is shaped into the famous flying mascot, the Spirit of Ecstasy. The artwork was hand-painted on the fascia of the car by renowned calligrapher Khalid Al Saaei.

The rest of the Ghost’s design constitutes a sapphire black exterior with an arctic white coachline and 21” painted wheels with matching wheel centres and arctic white pinstripes. The bespoke interior includes Al Saaei’s Spirit of Ecstasy calligraphy motif as both a silver inlay on the centre panel and as embroidery on the rear centre seats, which feature turchese, black and arctic white leather, finished with black lambswool carpets.

Commenting on the motor car, Mamdouh Khairallah, general manager of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars AGMC said, “Khaled Al Saaei’s artwork captured the words that have formed Rolls-Royce’s ethos for decades and contoured them into the brand’s inspirational muse. Only with Rolls-Royce can you take a unique piece of art that encapsulates culture and tradition, and present it in a luxury automobile as unique and special as the piece of art itself.”

The Ghost was handcrafted by experts at Rolls-Royce’s home in Goodwood, England. It was conceptualised by experts at AGMC, sole dealers of the brand in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.
