China’s JETOUR has chosen Dubai as the global launch site for its new G700 hybrid SUV, saying the United Arab Emirates now serves as a benchmark for the brand’s international expansion as Chinese automakers deepen their presence across the Gulf.
JETOUR Vice President Ke Chuandeng said the company sees the UAE as a “window to the world,” with consumer appetite for large SUVs and a highly competitive retail environment that offers a read on global demand trends.
“Dubai is an international city and a window to the world,” Ke told Arabian Business in an interview. “If we make a big success here, it’s a very good benchmark for all of our markets worldwide.”
JETOUR unveiled the G700 at a launch event in Dubai on Tuesday, describing it as the first model in a new premium off-road series. The hybrid SUV will roll out across Gulf markets in phases, with Saudi Arabia expected to receive the model later due to regulatory procedures, Ke said.
As part of its regional positioning, JETOUR is linking the G700 to the UAE’s off-road culture through its involvement in the Liwa Desert Rally, part of the Liwa International Festival 2025. The festival runs from December 12 to January 3 in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region at the base of Tal Moreeb, the country’s tallest dune. It features a wide range of motorsport events, including dune bashing and UTV circuit racing, alongside cultural activities and live entertainment.
Ke said JETOUR will invite G700 owners to take part in off-road driving sessions during the festival, supported by professional instructors.
“The car is not only a car, it is lifestyle,” he said, adding that the company aims to build a community around outdoor experiences.
The brand, part of China’s Chery Group, has expanded rapidly in the Gulf over the past two years as Chinese carmakers gain market share in a region long dominated by Japanese and US manufacturers. JETOUR now ranks third in the SUV segment in the UAE and fourth across all brands, according to Ke.
He added that the company now ranks second among all brands in Oman, Qatar and Bahrain, supported by what he described as “very professional” local partners and aggressive distributor expansion.
Chinese automakers, including BYD, MG, GAC and Changan, have accelerated sales in the Middle East, helped by competitive pricing, hybrid powertrains suited to Gulf driving conditions and growing consumer comfort with Chinese-built vehicles.
JETOUR plans to introduce more models in 2026 as part of a strategy to lift brand recognition and strengthen its position in the premium hybrid SUV category. Ke said the company is also expanding sub-dealer networks in Saudi Arabia, its largest Gulf market.
“We are ready for next year and have a very aggressive plan,” he said. “With our partners’ support, we can make more success in this market and provide very good products and service to local customers.”
