A rare collection of wines from iconic Australian
producer Penfolds Grange has gone on sale in Dubai, priced at AUD$660,000
($570,000).
Available at Le Clos, a luxury fine wine store at
Dubai International Airport, the unique haul contains 61 bottles and is
considered the most complete collection of Penfolds Grange wines ever to be
made available through a commercial wine shop.
Among the bottles are a Penfolds Grange 1953 Shiraz
and a Penfolds Grange 1953 Cabernet Sauvignon, of which there are only a
handful left in the world.
Penfolds Grange is one of the most sought after
Australian wine vineyards and has been in operation since 1844.
Dubai’s Le Clos made headlines last year when it
put on sale the world’s most expensive bottle of red wine, priced at $195,000 a
bottle.
Only three of the limited edition bottles made
available for purchase, with the 12 litre bottles produced by the 400-year-old
Château Margaux vineyard in the Bordeaux region of France
