Dubai-based camel milk chocolate firm, Al Nassma Chocolate, has revealed a retail partnership with London department store, Harrods.
The halal-approved chocolate, which is the only one of its kind worldwide, will be available at London’s flagship store starting mid-July 2015.
“10 years ago, a non-European premium chocolate was not even imaginable. Yet, here we are, a thriving UAE brand producing an authentic elite chocolate matching highest standard,” said General Manager of Al Nassma Chocolate, Martin van Almsick.
“The fact that an upscale department store with a long tradition and an impeccable reputation such as Harrods, has opened its doors to a niche brand such as ours, reflects a global trend towards innovative, out of the box luxury products, quality and innovation over quantity,” he added.
Because it uses camel milk, a dietary staple amongst Emirati Bedouins, the chocolate is said to have high levels of vitamins and minerals as well as antiviral and antibacterial properties.
According to the brand, though it was established in 2008, it took four years of research and development before being brought into the market.
Today, the firm’s products are sold in the UAE at Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab hotel, Emirates Palace, The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi Duty Free.
As for the name, Al Nassma is the Arabic word for a “seasonal breeze.”
