Lifetime achievement award for Emirates chief

Sheikh Ahmed wins top honour at Arabian Business 2008 awards night.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and chief executive and chairman of The Emirates Group, scooped the top award at Sunday night’s Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2008.

Sheikh Ahmed won the Lifetime Achievement award for his work with the DCA, Emirates Airline, and the Government of Dubai, where he is deputy chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, which formulates policies and strategies for the Emirate of Dubai.

His Highness was among 18 business leaders rewarded at a glittering ceremony at the Atlantis Hotel, on the Palm Jumeirah.

Also successful on the night was Joseph Ghossoub, CEO of The Holding Group, who won the Business Leadership award. Fadi Ghandour, founder and CEO of logistics giant Aramex, took Businessman of the Year. Fatima Al-Jaber, COO of the UAE’s Al-Jaber Group, won Businesswoman of the Year.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of HE Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre.
