Arif Naqvi has intelligently capitalised on regional and global opportunities through his private equity firm The Abraaj Group, which currently manages $10bn worth of assets. The Pakistani expatriate created the firm in 2002 and it has since made more than 190 investments in sectors including consumer, energy, financial services, healthcare and utilities. It has realised an estimated $6.7bn from more than 100 completed exits.
Most recently, The Abraaj Group sold its shareholding in ride hailing app Careem to Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Holding Company, and invested in Java House Group, East Africa’s leading coffee-led casual dining chain. Naqvi is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science.
