Founder and President
The Thumbay Group has been a feature in the UAE’s healthcare industry for almost 20 years. It was established in Ajman by Indian entrepreneur Thumbay Moideen, who has since taken it into medical research, diagnostics, retail pharmancy, wellness, hospitality and other sectors.
His key healthcare facilities include Gulf Medical College in Ajman, Thumbay Hospital in Dubai and Thumbay Clinics across four of the UAE emirates. In April, the group announced it would expand into India, with plans for 1,500 beds at various hospitals, starting with a 200-bed hospital in Hyderabad.
In 2010, Moideen branched into hospitality, launching the first of a chain of restaurants called The Terrace, which offer Indian and Arabic meals. He recently said the Thumbay Group would scale up its hospitality business “at least 10 times more in the next five years, in line with our strategic plan, Vision 2020”.
