When choosing someone to manage a centre that nurtures entrepreneurs, it helps to have an inspiring leader. Najla Al Midfa is, without a doubt, such a person. The first-ever Emirati woman to sit on the board of an Arab bank (United Arab Bank), she is also the general manager of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa), an initiative that helps small and medium-sized businesses in the UAE grow.
Al Midfa, who holds an MBA from Stanford University, is also the founder of social enterprise Khayarat, an online careers office that helps Emirati nationals make decisions for their working future. She also sits on the boards of Young Arab Leaders and the Sharjah Business Women Council. Her portfolio also consists of former positions at some of the world’s most prominent companies, including Google and international consultancy McKinsey & Company.
