Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri has led significant changes to visas in Dubai and implemented the pioneering airport e-gate system, which has made entering and exiting the emirate more efficient for millions of passengers and reduced overcrowding at immigration.
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai, of which he is the director general, handles visa applications each year from nearly every corner of the globe. Major General Al Marri has had the complex job of trying to make the system more efficient.
He began his career at the Dubai Police training school and obtained a Diploma in Police Sciences in 1980.
He has headed up the Dubai Police Forensic Evidence Department and as the general supervisor of the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD).
