The Abu Dhabi-based global investment firm deploys capital to develop and fast-track the capital’s economic growth. Chaired by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Mubadala is active in 13 sectors and over 30 countries around the world. It works across sectors such as aerospace, metals and mining, renewable energy and utilities, management of financial holdings, healthcare, real estate and defence services.
The idea to establish a progressive governmental firm to advance Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure first came from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who set up the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) in the 1980s to channel the capital’s newfound oil resources. Mubadala is also known for creating the annual tennis tournament in the capital.
