Amman-based HyperPay, previously Gate2Play, was initially a one-stop-shop for online traders in the Middle East, assisting them in localising their services. It also ran specialised support centres for online services. After years of experience in online payments, however, it turned into a payment gateway, providing a range of payment processing services to become one of the fastest growing online payment service providers in the MENA region.
Today, it helps over 400 businesses sell online and offline, with offices in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dubai. In 2015, it received millions of dollars in investment from Saudi virtual network operator Integrated Networks (INET) in order to allow it to quickly expand into the kingdom. Other investments came from venture capital firm Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP) and Accelerator Technology Holding (ATH). HyperPay chief executive Muhannad Ebwini said investment from Saudi will give them advantage of local expertise in the market, allowing it to expand in the country.
