Formed in the same year the UAE became a federation, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) pumps three million barrels of oil a day and is the world’s 12th largest oil-producing company. Through its network of businesses from exploration, production, storage, refining and distribution, to the development of a wide-range of petrochemical products across the entire hydrocarbon value chain, ADNOC has been among the primary catalysts for the growth of Abu Dhabi’s economy. Shares for 10 percent of its fuel distribution unit were sold on the Abu Dhabi stock exchange in December in an initial public offering that valued the company at AED31.1bn ($8.46bn), the biggest listing on the exchange in a decade.
