Company: Dubai Police
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri was named the commander-in-chief of the 15,000-strong Dubai Police force in March last year, a month after he was promoted from the rank of a brigadier. The new police chief said he would strive to ensure the safety, security and happiness of every individual in the country.
A key part of this mission involves smart technology. Last year at Gitex, Dubai Police showcased a raft of devices, including a glove that understands the sign language movements of its user and translates them into Arabic on a computer screen, and a range of e-service initiatives to drive efficiency.
Al Marri established a motorcycle group to protect VIPs in 2008 and is credited with devising Dubai Police’s smart phone application. He was assigned a key role in security preparations for Expo 2020 Dubai.
