Company: Dubai World Trade Centre Authority
Designation: Director General
The CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre Authority has grown Dubai into a top global destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. This is evident when considering the findings of the latest Economic Impact Assessment report released by DWTC, which shows that events at the venue totalled a record $3.4bn in retained value to Dubai’s economy, comprising 3.3 percent of the emirate’s GDP in 2017.
Al Marri is currently spearheading the $135m, four-phase expansion of DWTC funded by export credit agency UK Export Finance. The project will see the addition of a new hotel and will generate significant business for the UK, which is expected to provide roughly half of the project’s supplies and services. The expansion plan comes as the DWTCA announced it attracted a record 3.3 million delegates and attendees in 2017, up nine percent from 2016.
Al Marri simultaneously acts as the director general of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and is responsible for delivering on Dubai’s Tourism Vision 2020, which aims to attract 20 million visitors by 2020.
