Company: Etisalat Group
Saleh Al Abdooli has played a pivotal role in creating technology integration strategies as well as corporate and global expansion investments at UAE’s largest telecom operator.
After beginning his career with Etisalat in 1992 as a mobile systems planning engineer, he designed and launched the first 3G network in the Middle East and Africa in 2003, only the fifth in the world at the time.
After its founding in 2006, Al Abdooli led Etisalat Misr for five years achieving remarkable results in the Egyptian market. He launched Egypt’s first 3G and 3.75G mobile networks, less than 55 days after which Etisalat Misr had gained one million subscribers – it would go on to provide coverage across the country with 2G and 3G services over the next five years. Al Abdooli returned to the UAE in 2012 as CEO of Etisalat’s domestic operations. His tenure led to 4G LTE services that today cover 96 percent of the UAE’s populated area.
