Omani businessman and entrepreneur Qais Al Khonji is perhaps best known for his work helping Omani nationals overcome the hurdles of starting small businesses. In 2010 Al Khonji founded Qais United Enterprises Trading, a company that bought goods from China and sold them to individuals.
Then, in 2012, Al Khonji established his second company, Genesis International, which specialises in IT solutions and smart city technologies.
In 2013 Al Khonji established an enhanced oil recovery business, Genesis Projects and Investments based in Oman.
He is a board member of Oman National Engineering and Investment Company, Muscat National Holding and of Sharakah, which specifically encourages and supports the development of entrepreneurs and SMEs in Oman.
Al Khonji is also a representative of the government of Oman and was appointed as a member of the entrepreneurs organisation of the sultanate to meet with former Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to discuss Indian-Omani business relations.
