She became the CEO and registrar of DIFC Courts in 2017 and has since played a major role in the development of DIFC Courts, particularly in creating the Dispute Resolution Authority as well as the Pro-Bono Programme, the first of its kind in the Middle East. She also led the growth of the small claims tribunal, the busiest unit of DIFC Courts, which settled 362 out of 520 of the courts’ solved cases in 2017.
On the digital front, DIFC Courts partnered with Smart Dubai this year to create the world’s first ‘Court of the Blockchain’ to explore how to aid verification of court judgements for cross-border enforcement. The move is a key first step towards creating a blockchain-powered judiciary. She is also an avid supporter of women’s progress in the UAE, with 80 percent of the staff at DIFC Courts being women.
