It started in 1998 with the creation of Chedid Re, the holding group’s first company in Cyprus, but Chedid Capital has since grown to become a prominent insurance solutions provider in the MENA region with a regional head office in Beirut and Dubai and a network of offices across Limassol, Jeddah, Al Khobar, London, Casablanca, Port Louis, Riyadh, Athens and Istanbul. Today, it includes Chedid Re, Chedid Insurance Brokers and Chedid Corporate Solutions. Moreover, Chedid Re is now registered as a Lloyd’s broker, and is recognised as one of the top 20 reinsurance brokers around the world.
The group plans to expand worldwide and specifically develop Chedid Insurance Brokers organically in the countries that the group operates in, as well as through new offices in strategic markets. Chedid Re is also looking at making its mark in the Indian subcontinent, East and West Africa. The holding group is headed by founder, chairman and CEO Farid Chedid, whose current focus is to increase presence in the MENA market and grow the business by offering its products to a multinational clientele in the region. Chedid previously served as the chairman of Al Manarah Insurance Services, one of UAE’s premier insurance brokers.
We continue to meet the growing demand for reliable solutions in insurance markets across the globe
The chief executive credit Chedid Capital’s success to three pillars he calls “indispensable” – a talented team, a clear and ambitious vision, and an unwavering commitment to deliver on promises. It is his ambition that saw him rank among the region’s most influential individuals in the insurance industry in the past decade, in addition to being named the Middle East and Africa Industry Achiever of the Year in 2016 at the MEA Risk & Insurance Excellence Awards.
Last year, in a message posted on the company’s website, Chedid said, “Nineteen years ago, we were three employees working relentlessly in a single office space. But today, it brings me great pride to describe our growth as an investment group that specialises in insurance, reinsurance, corporate solutions and management services with operations running across three continents.”
Furthermore, Chedid is a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, a member of Human Rights Watch Beirut committee, a member of the board of trustees at Notre Dame University (NDU) Lebanon, a fellow of the Middle East Leadership Initiatives (MELI), a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN) and a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He holds a Master’s Degree in Risk Management from NYU Stern School of Business, a Master’s Degree in Finance from ESCP Europe, a Master’s Degree in Management from Universite Paris IX Dauphine, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law from London Metropolitan University.
