Thumbay Group is a diversified international conglomerate headquartered in DIFC. Moideen set it up in 1998 and grew its business operations in as many as 20 sectors. Today, the group has activities in education, healthcare, medical research, diagnostics, retail pharmacy, health communications, retail optical, wellness, nutrition stores, hospitality, real estate, publishing, technology, media, events, medical tourism, trading and marketing and distribution.

Thumbay Group today employs close to 5,000 people, projected to increase to around 25,000 by the year 2023 with the completion of ongoing and upcoming projects. The Thumbay chain of hospitals is one of the largest healthcare services providers in the UAE, serving patients from over 175 nationalities.

The Gulf Medical University (GMU) is one of the leading private medical universities in the Middle East region, attracting a student cohort of over 80 nationalities and faculty and staff from over 25 countries. Currently, Thumbay Group is focusing on its strategic long-term plans which will see the group scale its businesses almost ten times and expand its operations globally. The group also plans to build three more international campuses in the next five years. This is in addition to plans to expand the Thumbay network of academic hospitals to a total capacity of 1,000 beds in the UAE, 1,500 beds in India and 750 beds in the Gulf and in Africa. The group also plans to expand specialised retail outlets.

Moideen has been ranked 59th in the prestigious Barclays Hurun India Rich List 2018, ranked high in the list of Top Indian Business Leaders in The Arab World by Forbes Middle East and has been featured in various other lists such as 50 Richest Indians in the GCC, 100 Indian Leaders in the UAE, and 100 most Influential Indians in the Middle East by Arabian Business. Moreover, he was honoured at the House of Lords, UK for invaluable contributions in the fields of healthcare and medical education.

Moideen was also given an honorary doctorate by Amity University, Dubai, for significant contributions towards the promotion of medical education, trade and industry, and social and economic development of the nation.
