CEO Talal Al Dhiyebi (above)was a driving force behind a landmark $8.1bn alliance between Aldar and Emaar, in which the two real estate giants will work together to develop projects locally and internationally. In yet another huge move, in May 2018 Aldar acquired $1bn worth of real estate assets from the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) that he says has given Aldar “an unprecedented opportunity” to add value to its Yas Island portfolio. Aldar’s projects include Yas Marina Circuit, Ferrari World and Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi.
In April, the company launched its Lea waterfront residential project on Yas Island, in response to what Al Dhiyebi described as “pent-up demand” for such properties in the UAE capital. June 2019 saw Aldar picked Mumbai-headquartered real estate consultant Anarock to market its residential and commercial properties to Indian investors.
