Padma Shri awardee Dr Azad Moopen is the founder chairman and managing director of Aster DM Healthcare, the largest integrated healthcare provider network in the GCC and an emerging player in India. A Gold Medalist in MBBS, postgraduate in general medicine from Calicut Government Medical College and a diploma holder in chest diseases from Delhi University, Dr Moopen has played a key role in shaping the healthcare delivery model in the UAE over the past three decades and is now focusing on India to replicate the same success.
Driven by his vision to make quality healthcare affordable and accessible to all, he has established a network of 366 facilities across seven countries, including 26 hospitals, 115 clinics and 225 pharmacies. Aster DM Healthcare has just announced that it would be setting up its clinical excellence hub for the western hemisphere at Cayman Islands.
To address the key challenge of limited talented healthcare professionals to serve the mass population in India, Dr Moopen has also established DM WIMS, a medical college, and MIMS Academy Trust, which provides medical education across wide range of medical, nursing and pharmacy courses.
