In the summer of 2006, Bilal Ballout graduated with a Master’s Degree in Finance, but decided that pursuing a corporate career was not his calling. Instead he became an entrepreneur. He identified an opportunity in opening up a trading business specialising in the distribution of bakery and pastry ingredients. The company, Baklawa Made Better (BMB), then went on to open a chocolate and Mediterranean sweets factory that now employs more than 1,000 people and is on a quest to expand globally.
Ballout was joined in 2010 by Mohamad Khachab, who has helped take the company to new heights. His passion for working with and adapting to different cultures inspired him to open offices in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the US and Russia, as well as opening up sales channels in over 30 countries. Khachab says he intends to have a positive influence on the economy and teams of tomorrow. On top of running the company, he is completing his MBA at the University of Hult.
