With 20 years experience heading up the Irish Stock Exchange, Tom Healy was considered the ideal candidate to take charge of the Abu Dhabi bourse. Since moving into the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange hot seat in September 2007, Healy has helped establish the trading platform as one of the region’s leading exchanges.
During his time with the Irish Stock Exchange, Healy carried out numerous international consultancy and advisory assignments, mainly related to capital markets, for the World Bank, European Union and USAID.
Healy served on a number of financial boards and committees in Ireland, and was actively involved in the World Federation of Exchanges and the Federation of European Securities Exchanges.
Healy was planning to retire when he stepped down as chief executive from the Irish Stock Exchange, but the prospect of managing an emerging bourse in Abu Dhabi tempted him back to employment.
Healy has a degree in economics from Trinity College, Dublin.
