Maktoob goes mobile

Maktoob.com has launched the first Arabic WAP email service in the Middle East. Members can send and receive mesage using a WAP enabled mobile phone.

Maktoob.com is set to go mobile with the introduction of it’s WAP email service. Maktoob members will be able to send and receive messages using WAP enabled mobile phones.

The email service will be followed by a whole range of mobile solutions, according to Maktoob managing partner Hussam Khoury: “With mobile usage gaining momentum rapidly in the region, the new service is sure to appeal to our constantly mobile users who need reliable sources of information that is crucial for their operations,” he said. “It essentially puts the Internet and email services in the user’s pocket.”

The service is free of charge for Maktoob’s 430,000 users.

The site was recently ranked as the number one Arabic web service by Alexa.com, Amazon.com’s web surfing enhancement service.

Hussam Khoury commented: “The rapid increase in our registered member base endorses our popularity among the Arabic community and we are keen to encourage that positive support by constantly offering such state of the art services.”
