Dubai's Mall of the Emirates, home to more than 450 international retail brands and an indoor ski slope, attracted about four million tourists in 2006, and is expecting this figure to increase by 20% in 2007.

Dubai's Mall of the Emirates, home to more than 450 international retail brands and an indoor ski slope, attracted about four million tourists in 2006, and is expecting this figure to increase by 20% in 2007. The mall's general manager, Fuad Mansour Sharaf, said this has encouraged the mall to focus on the booming tourist market.

"Tourists visit from all over the world but we get particularly strong representation from the GCC, UK, Germany, Russia and emerging Asian markets such as China. On average a tourist will spend 50% more than a resident and will contribute approximately 30% of sales in 2007," he said.
