Man City ends interest in Eto'o - report

Manchester City end their interest in Barcelona's Cameroon international striker.

Manchester City have ended their interest in Barcelona's Cameroon international striker Samuel Eto'o, it is reported.

The two clubs had been in talks over the £25m ($40m)-rated striker after Barca told the 28-year-old Eto'o they were prepared to let him leave the Nou Camp, according to the BBC Sport website.

City chief executive Garry Cook said: "The circumstances surrounding him were such that a deal couldn’t be completed.

Eto'o is the second marquee player City have missed out on following Kaka's decision not to sign in January.

The Cameroonian cost Barcelona £16 million when he signed from Mallorca in 2004 and has since scored more than 100 goals in his five seasons with the club.

Reports out of Barcelona earlier this week claimed he was demanding almost half of any mooted £25 million transfer fee to City in addition to wages of about £200,000 a week.
