Man City in for Tevez and Eto’o?

Abu Dhabi-owned Premiership club set to be active in summer transfer market as stars look to move.

Abu Dhabi-owned Premiership football club, Manchester City, look set to be active participants in the summer transfer market.

If UK press reports prove correct, supporters could be seeing the likes of Carlos Tevez, Samuel Eto’o and Gareth Barry playing at Eastlands next season.

On Sunday the News of The World newspaper reported that City believe they have won a £42 million race for Carlos Tevez and Gareth Barry.

The club is ready to rubber-stamp a £32m deal to steal Tevez away from city rivals United, as well as offering Aston Villa’s £10m-rated England midfielder Gareth Barry £90,000 a week to see off Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs.

The move for Argentinian striker Tevez, 25, also blows Liverpool and Chelsea out of the chase with City happy to meet agent Kia Joorabchian's £32 million asking price.

Joorabchian will have one final meeting with Old Trafford chiefs this week to find out whether Sir Alex Ferguson sees Tevez as anything more than a bit-part player, the newspaper added.

The People newspaper meanwhile reported that City is set to make a £30 million bid for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o.

Jose Maria Mesalles, the agent of the Cameroon hitman who scored in last week's Champions League Final victory over Manchester United, met City representatives last week. They offered a four-year deal worth £160,000 a week, claimed the newspaper.

The forward's contract at Barca expires next year and they will not want to let their main man go for free then.

I think we should build slower than we aspire. We need to buy players who will GUARANTEE champions league football next year, we need to make safe transfers. if we had Eto'o, Tevez, Robinho and Kaka, I would be incredibly happy with our attack force, however having those fantastic (world class) players playing on the same side as a defence with Richard Dunne, CAPTAINED by Richard Dunne, it wouldnt work. Some might argue that we can just buy 11 new players.. it is a lot more complicated than that, if we brought 11 players with no chemistry, who ALL have to become used to the club (maybe even the premier league), the team would fail. Also 11 new players is quite over-the-top. Any way, this is my dream team for city (the team should be possible within 3/4 years) ---------------------Given----------------------- -----Puyol-----Richards---Kompany---- Lahm --------SWP--------Iniesta-------Ireland---- -------Robinho-----------------Messi--------- ---------------------Tevez----------------------
