Whitby and Bird has been appointed as structural engineer for a five-tower project in Dubai Maritime City (DMC).

Maritime Centre, which has been designed by Miami-based architect B&A, will form the focal point of the offshore project and is the first collection of buildings to be developed. Turner Construction is the project manager.

"The contract includes structural, civil, MEP and fire engineering on five commercial towers," said Peyman Mohajer, regional director, Whitby and Bird.

Built on a common podium of five floors, which will be used for car parking, the towers will range from 23 to 34 storeys and will include one basement.

The project will also include a ‘creek', which will annex the development.
