Mary Poppins coming to Dubai Opera

Multi-award winning musical confirmed for May next year

Mary Poppins coming to Dubai Opera

Chim chiminey, chim chiminey, chim chim cher-oo, we have some Dubai Opera news for you…

Yep, Mary Poppins is coming to town from May 1 to 18 and it’s going to be supercalifragilistic. Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s hit musical will bring Cherry Tree Lane to Dubai Opera, along with an international cast of top performers.

“It’s hard to believe that it is already 12 years since Mary Poppins first landed on the London stage.  My goodness……time flies even faster than our beloved Nanny,” producer Cameron Mackintosh said today. “I’m delighted to be bringing her to Dubai for the very first time, after spreading her magic around the world.  Since we originally staged the production we have found even more magical ways to stage this timeless tale and I’m sure you will find our new Mary practically perfect in every way.”

Everyone’s favourite tale of a magical nanny, who teaches the children that she looks after the wonder of a happy life, is adapted for the stage by the Oscar-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellows. Expect to hear all the famous songs such as “Jolly Holiday”, “Step in Time”, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “Feed the Birds”.

Jasper Hope, Chief Executive at Dubai Opera said: “Mary Poppins is a magical musical which has enchanted family audiences around the world for a decade – the chance to see this spectacular production now on the GCC’s most incredible live stage is nothing short of Supercalifragilistic!”

Tickets will be available from the Dubai Opera website www.dubaiopera.com from 9am on Sunday 27 November.
