NEW FESTIVAL: Wakestock Abu Dhabi 2010 is set to attract the worlds top wakeboarders.

Maximo Park and De la Soul are the first big name acts to be confirmed for the first Wakestock Abu Dhabi, a watersports and music festival planned for the UAE capiutal in March.

Organisers Flash Entertainment on Monday unveiled Mercury Prize-nominated British alternative rock band Maximo Park as the main draw for the second night of the festival.

The final night of the festival, Saturday March 6, will see hip hop group De La Soul take to the stage, the company said in a statement.

John Lickrish, managing director of Flash Entertainment said: "We have confirmed the world’s top wakeboarders for the competition, and this talent is only matched by the quality of the artists performing in the evenings...We look forward to confirming the final details of the programme very soon."

As the official first stop on the 2010 WWA Wakeboard World Series, the event will contribute points to the world rankings ensuring the best wakeboarders in the world will attend the three-day free event.

Over its 10 year history, Wakestock has featured performances from acts such as Mark Ronson, Dizzee Rascal, Pendulum, Calvin Harris, N*E*R*D, Groove Armada, The Streets, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Duffy and the Happy Mondays.
