Meetings Industry investment required

New Four Seasons Golf Club is already a popular venue choice.

The Middle East needs to invest in Meetings Industry-related infrastructure to fully exploit this burgeoning market, an industry specialist has claimed.

A lack of dedicated conventions bureaus focusing on attracting major association meetings in regional destinations is preventing the Meetings Industry from achieving it full potential, according to Rob Nicholas, director of Dubai-based Nicholas Publishing International.

"Major rotational meetings are an entity themselves and represent a highly untapped segment for the Middle East," he said. "The lack of medium-tier accommodation is also detrimental to efforts to attract associations, as budgets are often tight and don't stretch to five-star hotels."
