Part of Dubai's main road to closed on Friday to allow footbridges to be installed.
Part of Dubai's busiest road will be closed on Friday to allow engineers to install pedestrian footbridges linked to the new metro stations.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Thursday that one side of Sheikh Zayed Road in the sector between Trade Centre roundabout and Defence Interchange will be closed from 2-10am.
The same section of road will also be closed on Dec. 26 on the Abu Dhabi bound carriageway for a similar operation, said Adel Al-Marzouqi, director of Right of Way Services Department at RTA Traffic and Roads Agency.
Urging motorists to exercise more caution when using diversions in place, he added: "This road closure is important to enable construction of footbridges for pedestrians to and from Dubai Metro stations located at this vital road, which ultimately serves the safety of motorists and avoids run-over accidents."
Does anyone know when the metro will be up and running?
