Microsoft announce regional price cut for Xbox 360

Full games console gets new estimated retail price of AED 1,150

Microsoft are slashing the price of their Xbox 360 home entertainment console in the region, lowering the RRP of all retail configurations by AED 350.

The Arcade, Premium and Elite retail configurations are dropping to AED 850, 1150 and 1599 respectively.

The Premium and Elite are also receiving a price cut in Saudi Arabia, each dropping SR 350 to SR 1199 and SR 1650 respectively. The Arcade pack, previously unavailable in the Kingdom, is being launched at SR 889.

The Arcade configuration differs from the Premium (or ‘Pro’) configuration in that it doesn’t come with the 20GB hard drive required to download movies or many demos and full games using Microsoft’s Xbox Live service.

The Xbox 360 Elite configuration comes with a larger, 120GB hard drive and an HDMI cable instead of a component cable for people with high-end televisions and sound systems.

Armagan Demir, Head of Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division Middle East, said: “History shows that AED 850 is the price point where a console’s audience begins to expand, and with these new ERPs in place we’re ready to bring more consumers into the Xbox 360 world.”
