Fortinet has joined Microsoft's security scheme, which provides updates on malware affecting its technology.
The security vendor is the latest company to join the Virus Information Alliance (VIA), which Microsoft relies on to provide technical information on newly discovered viruses. VIA offers recommended best practices for preventing malicious attacks, information about specific viruses, ‘how to' articles and links to other antivirus resources.
Users can refer to their preferred anti-virus vendor through the VIA web site.
As part of the alliance, Fortinet will work to address vulnerabilities and communicate solutions to its customers about Microsoft.
"As cyber-criminals continue their unrelenting attacks, it is our responsibility as security vendors to work together to find innovative collaboration strategies and solutions. For this reason, alliances such as VIA have become critical for all security customers," said Richard Stiennon, Fortinet chief marketing officer. For all the latest tech news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
