Mitel receives DCA award

The Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has given Mitel an award for outstanding services.

The Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has given Mitel an award for outstanding services.

The Canadian firm supplied an internet protocol (IP) communication solution to DCA, assisting with its migration from an analog communication systems using legacy time division multiplexing (TDM) systems to IP-based telephony systems.

Mitel has long been a technology provider to the DCA and previously assisted it with moving from a Niax system to a Mitel TDM platform.

"Being awarded by Dubai Department of Civil Aviation is a stamp of approval of the highest calibre," said Hisham El-Amili, general manager for Mitel in the GCC.

Mitel's other customers in the region include Jeddah Islamic Port, which last year deployed a converged communications system from Mitel.

The firm is also working in partnership with the Public Telecommunications Corporation (PTC) in Yemen on the supply of IP platforms.
