More Dubai residents 'earning more than AED10,000 a month'

Workers in construction, manufacturing, retail and government are highest earners, study says

More Dubai residents 'earning more than AED10,000 a month'

The proportion of Dubai residents earning more than AED10,000 ($2,722) per month has almost doubled since 2009, according to an analysis by Reidin.

The research company analysed salary data from the Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC) and found that only 12 percent of the population were taking home above AED10,000 per month in 2009. By 2015, the figure had nearly doubled, Reidin said.

Workers earning above the AED20,000 ($5,444.92) pay level were mainly in the construction, manufacturing, retail and wholesale industries, as well as the government administration sector, the research said.

“These sectors will be the benefactors of the fiscal stimulus underway, causing the populace to have a higher purchasing power in the future,” Reidin noted, according to Gulf News.

A recent DSC survey of 5,029 government employees found that salaries and compensations were top of the needs of 95 percent of workers.

DSC deputy executive director Tariq Al Janahi said: “Some people said the financial aspect, such as job benefits and salary, was a priority [for achieving job contentment], while others preferred other aspects, such as the positively working relationships and job security.”

The majority are laborers who earn very low not minding how old they have been with their companies. The old with experience but low education still toil but make big contributions but kept suffering - They need Free medical cover 100%, food and accommodation, annual tickets but all these are never availed. First Medical is either 20/80, 50/50 or very rarely 100%, there may be no accommodation, or cramped in camps where friends and relations not allowed. The worst is air tickets disharmony. Some get 1 ticket after 3 yrs, some after 2 yrs and some annually on manager level or foreman.
The best thing that can be done is force employers to pay air tickets annually to all for those below 5000.
The disadvantage to the laborers is the fear instilled in them for loosing jobs after borrowing loans to come in gulf, being forced by family relations to sty put till ends meet.

Wow James that's a hard read, almost like you wrote it in Cantonese then whacked it through Google translate. Can't disagree with the thrust of your message though.
