Top holiday destinations for UAE residents are Maldives, Georgia and the United Kingdom
Nearly nine out of ten UAE residents (85.3 percent) are willing to spend a maximum per person spend of $680 (AED2,500) for a holiday package that includes hotel accommodation and air tickets.
Almost two out of ten residents prefer to spend less than $136 (AED500), while a higher number would opt for packages in the range of $136 (AED500) to $545 (AED2,000), according to a survey by regional online holiday booking website HolidayMe.
The survey, which gathered data from 1,500 respondents in the UAE, also revealed that consumers are becoming more wary with their holiday expenditure.
“The recent oil prices and stabilisation of some markets might have affected some travel behaviours but we also have much more holidays this year for which travellers are budgeting or factoring in as well,” co-founder and chief executive officer of HolidayMe Geet Bhalla told Gulf News.
The survey also found that the top holiday destinations for UAE residents are Maldives (chosen by 27.1 percent of respondents), Georgia (16.8 per cent) and the United Kingdom (13 per cent), followed by Thailand (7.7%), Netherlands (5.4%), Malaysia (4.5%),
Turkey (3.5%) and Armenia (2.1%).
It also found that 48.3 per cent of residents go on holiday once a year, 31.1 per cent go twice a year, and 12.6 per cent go every three months.
