MST makes IPP grade

Dubai-based MST Computer, the local assembler behind the Samtek PC, notebook and server brand, is the latest Middle East system builder to make the grade and pick up Intel Premier Provider (IPP) status.

Dubai-based MST Computer, the local assembler behind the Samtek PC, notebook and server brand, is the latest Middle East system builder to make the grade and pick up Intel Premier Provider (IPP) status.

IPP status affords assemblers a wide variety of relationship, technical, financial and marketing benefits designed to help them grow their business.

MST posted sales of US$72m in 2004 and expects to top the US$100m mark in 2005 according to Afshin Makhmalbaf, director at MST. The company now has assembly facilities in both the UAE and Tajikistan.

“Achieving IPP status is evidence of the quality of service and support that we offer our customers,” said Makhmalbaf. “This is one of the key criteria that Intel takes into account alongside our efforts to build and sell servers and notebooks as well as desktops.”

MST has carved out a strong reputation for the Samtek brand in the large account market. Increasingly, the company is positioning itself as an IT solutions provider for these customers, enabling it to sell a wider product portfolio into these accounts including servers and notebooks.

Makhmalbaf explains: “Building a reputation and a brand name that is respected is vital. As part of that, we offer excellent service and product guarantees and have benefited considerably through word-of-mouth recommendations.”

MST assembled 70,000 units in total during 2004 according to Makhmalbaf. With IPP status secured, MST plans to continue the development of the Samtek brand across the region. IPP status ensures that MST has a strong purchasing relationship with authorised Intel distributors in the region.

“Samtek offers the best service, the best guarantee and the best solution for each customer’s budget,” concluded Makhmalbaf
