Second largest Arab telecom operator plans to move headquarters to either Bahrain, Dubai or Amsterdam.
Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) is considering moving its headquarters from Kuwait to either Bahrain, Dubai or Amsterdam, the operator said in a statement on Tuesday. MTC, the second largest Arab telecom operator and Kuwait's largest publicly traded company, did not say when it would make a decision. Company officials were not immediately available for comment.
"MTC is continually monitoring ways to improve operations," the company said in a statement. "As part of that process we have short-listed three options, Amsterdam, Bahrain and Dubai, as possible locations for Group headquarters," it said.
The firm operates in Bahrain in partnership with Britain's Vodafone Group as MTC Vodafone Bahrain, and acquired Netherlands-based Celtel in 2005. MTC has no presence in Dubai, although it operates in six countries in the Middle East and 14 in sub-Saharan Africa.
