Passenger traffic at Muscat and Salalah airports has increased by 20 percent during the month of February, according to Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA).

Total passenger traffic through Muscat International Airport increased to 1,924,815 in February 2016 compared to 1,597,660 in the same period of 2015, Oman news agency reported.

The increase in traffic has been attributed to increase in the number of flights operated by airlines such as Etihad Airways, Indian carrier SpiceJet and Bangladesh Airlines. Cargo traffic at Muscat increased by 11 percent.

Salalah Airport also increased its traffic by 20 percent, to 174,687 passengers at the end of February 2016 compared to 145,947 for the same period of 2015. The movement of cargo, freight traffic dropped by ten percent to 221 tonnes at the end of February 2016 compared to 246 tonnes in the same period of 2015.
