Najmat roads bid early June

Bids for the roads and infrastructure package for Najmat Abu Dhabi will be received in the first week of June.

Bids for the roads and infrastructure package for Najmat Abu Dhabi will be received in the first week of June.

The client for the US $8 billion (AED30 billion) project is Reem Developers.

"We have a very good strike rate with contractors, so we expect a good response," said Manish Joshi, general manager, Reem Developers.

"I see a lot of foreign contractors coming into the market now, including South East Asian, Chinese and Indian, so developers have a good basket of companies to choose from. And the contract has to include conditions that the contractor is comfortable with, whether it's lump sum or not."

Grading work for the project is almost complete.

In March, China Harbour Engineering won the $54 million contract to build three marinas and a canal as well as undertake reclamation works.

The overall infrastructure package for the project is worth $653 million.

Design work was carried out by Halcrow Hyder Consulting.
