Rumours are quashed that rocker Tommy Lee has bought an island retreat in Dubai for ex-wife Pamela Anderson.
Property developer Nakheel has denied reports that former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson has been bought a luxury island property within ‘The World' by ex-husband Tommy Lee.
The World is a cluster of manmade islands off the coast of Dubai that are designed to look like a map of the globe. Each island within the cluster is the shape of a country, and each ‘country' can be bought and developed by a single owner.
Rumours surfaced yesterday, led by Britain's Daily Mirror tabloid newspaper, that rocker Tommy Lee had bought the island of Greece while on a trip to Dubai to compere the Dubai Bike Week.
Lee was quoted in the Daily Mirror saying that buying the island would allow him to spend time in private with Anderson and their two sons.
"I've been doing a lot of research on Dubai property and The World project," he told the newspaper. "We're going to buy Greece because I'm Greek originally. Pammie actually turned me on to the whole thing. Life is good now because I'm seeing my boys again."
However, today a Nakheel spokesperson said that the island of Greece had not yet been sold and that there had been no contact with Lee or Anderson.
Sales to high profile celebrities and businesspeople has been a key part of Nakheel's marketing strategy for The World and neighbouring Palm Island developments. David and Victoria Beckham were trumpted as early buyers on Palm Island and Richard Branson was announced as an investor in The World.
