More than 900 Emirati men and women were employed by 111 financial and banking institutions in 75 days through Government Accelerators, a government approach that was launched last year to help the National Agenda of UAE Vision 2021, according to Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

Of the roughly 900 people, 774 have already started to work for the institutions, and the remaining 139 are waiting for employment procedures to be completed, Ghobash said.

There were a total of 1,026 job openings offered by 36 banks, 39 insurance companies and 36 exchange companies and finance houses.

"The banks and financial institutions, which employed the Emirati men and women through the Government Accelerators, proved that they are serious about undertaking their social and national responsibilities," Ghobash said.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation is keen to encourage the private sector to employ citizens.

"We remind other companies and establishments, which have achieved nothing yet in this regard, that ... Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wants the private sector to shoulder its responsibility in the process of Emiratisation," he added.
