NEOTION will present its first silicon implementation of the MPEG-4-AVC, the NEOTION Processor 4 (NP4), at IBC 2005. With the spread of the MPEG-4-AVC standard, the markets of digital TV, digital decoders, digital video recorders, internet broadcasting, and video on demand (VOD) are rapidly embracing this standard.
The NEOTION Processor NP4 is a fully optimised low cost MPEG-4-AVC single-chip solution that enables MPEG-4-AVC decoding, MPEG-4 to MPEG-2 real time transcoding and native IP connectivity. The NP4 chip claims to offer security features, low consumption, affordable cost and high quality images.
Manufacturers and operators can take advantage of these benefits to easily convert any MPEG-2 product into a MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compatible product, regardless if it’s a digital TV decoder, an integrated digital TV (iDTV ie the European digital TV standard) or a Digital cable-ready TV (DCR ie the American digital TV standard). In addition to these features, native internet connectivity enables any product powered by the NP4 to access interactive services and video content from the home PC or the World Wide Web.
